Acknowledgement to Reviewers
At Anubodhan, we deeply value the time, knowledge, and thoughtful effort that our reviewers contribute to the journal. Peer review is an important part of scholarly publishing, and the careful work of reviewers helps us maintain the academic quality, credibility, and integrity of the journal.
Our reviewers come from diverse academic and professional backgrounds. They include researchers, scholars, academics, independent experts, and professionals working in fields related to the scope of Anubodhan, including philosophy, social work, education, and other areas of scholarly inquiry. They generously share their expertise to provide independent, fair, and constructive assessments of manuscripts submitted to the journal.
We generally request reviewers to complete their reviews within two weeks. Their timely responses help us keep the editorial process moving smoothly, enable authors to receive feedback without unnecessary delay, and allow suitable manuscripts to proceed towards publication. While the final decision to accept, reject, or request revision of a manuscript rests with the editors, reviewers’ observations, suggestions, and recommendations are an important part of that decision-making process. Their thoughtful comments also help authors improve the clarity, quality, and overall contribution of their work.
We understand that reviewing a manuscript requires a meaningful investment of time and attention. In the midst of busy academic and professional responsibilities, taking several hours to read a manuscript carefully and prepare a thoughtful review is a generous contribution. We therefore sincerely appreciate everyone who accepts this responsibility and supports the journal in this way.
There are many reasons why scholars choose to participate in peer review. For many, reviewing is a way of giving back to the academic community and contributing to the advancement of knowledge. By examining manuscripts carefully, reviewers help assess the relevance, originality, clarity, and scholarly soundness of research before it becomes part of the published literature. Their contribution therefore extends beyond an individual manuscript and supports the quality and development of scholarship more broadly.
Peer review can also be an opportunity for reviewers themselves to learn and grow. Reading new research, emerging ideas, and different approaches can broaden one’s perspective and sometimes inspire new questions, research directions, or professional practices. The experience can also help researchers become more familiar with scholarly publishing and further develop their skills in critical reading, academic writing, and constructive evaluation.
Reviewing is a skill that grows with experience. At Anubodhan, wherever appropriate and consistent with the confidentiality of the review process, reviewers may receive information about the editorial decision and relevant feedback. This can help them understand how their review contributed to the process and provide an opportunity to reflect on and further develop their reviewing practice. Reviewers are also welcome to contact the editors if they would like feedback on the quality or usefulness of their reviews. We value the development of thoughtful and responsible reviewers and are pleased to support them in this journey.
Peer review is also an important form of academic and professional service. By volunteering their expertise, reviewers make a meaningful contribution to the scholarly community. Their reviewing experience may appropriately form part of their academic or professional record. Reviewers who consistently provide careful, constructive, and timely reviews may also, where appropriate and according to the needs of the journal, be considered for further opportunities to contribute to Anubodhan.
Because Anubodhan follows a double-blind peer-review process, authors and reviewers normally remain unaware of each other’s identities. Much of the work undertaken by reviewers therefore happens quietly and behind the scenes. Their contribution may not always be visible to readers, but it is an essential part of the process through which scholarly work is evaluated and strengthened.
As a public expression of our gratitude, Anubodhan publishes the names of its reviewers once a year. This acknowledgement is intended simply to recognize their contribution to the journal while preserving the confidentiality of individual review assignments. The publication of a reviewer’s name does not indicate which manuscript they reviewed or disclose any details of a particular review.
As a token of our appreciation, after completing a review, Anubodhan and its publisher, Siri Research Foundation, offer the reviewer one complimentary publication opportunity in any journal published by Siri Research Foundation, subject to the applicable terms and conditions.
The continued quality of Anubodhan would not be possible without the generosity of our reviewers. Their time, expertise, careful reading, constructive criticism, and valuable suggestions help authors strengthen their manuscripts and help the journal uphold its academic standards. In this sense, our reviewers are an important part of the community that makes Anubodhan possible.
We extend our sincere thanks to every scholar and professional who has contributed to the peer-review process. We are especially grateful to those who have given their time voluntarily and thoughtfully to help authors improve their work and to support the advancement of scholarly knowledge.
